Gerhard Richter

For any of you who have been following my blog you will by now that I love love love really getting lost in an image. Well Gerhard Richter’s work has always inspired me to look and look and look at his work. His career is epic and hugely diverse but I have always been drawn to the photorealism style he has visited throughout his practice. With some of his works the clarity is so photo realistic it stops you in your tracks whereas the examples here adopt a more diffused approach, almost akin to viewing them through a screen or with the haze of distance yet we as the viewer have a privileged and up close view yet we are excluded by the solitary stances of the subjects. I have been working on a new series with the title “why aren’t you saying anything to reassure me?” and have found myself drawn to the work of Richter during this time.  I  have submitted the work to date for Critical Mass…hoping I get through the first stage of judging..will keep you all updated on progress and post some images when I can.
